This tour is created for passionate MTB riders (required: high physical fitness and MTB experience). Being a part of this MTB tour, you will have the opportunity to experience the exuberant beauty of the mountainous landscapes of Maule region and the National Reserve Altos de Lircay on an unforgettable 2-day adventure.
We start the tour at your hotel location in Santiago where we will pick you up with a private vehicle and start our 270 km/ 167 mile journey to South from Santiago. After arriving in Talca, we will ascend by vehicle to the local hill: Cerro de la Virgen for our first MTB ride.
We hop on our bikes and bike up for another 30 minutes until reaching the summit where we get to enjoy great views over the Maule Valley. We start our descent (1 hour - 300 m / 984 ft) along technical trails with high degree of inclination. We will bike down across the local forest until arriving in a traditional restaurant located at the border of the Claro River where we will be able to enjoy typical Chilean dishes.
After lunch we will proceed another 70 km/ 44 miles by vehicle towards the mountains until arriving in the Altos de Lircay National Reserve.
We will leave our baggage in the cabin and start our second mountain bike ride through the dense forest and its trails with small crossing rivers. We will stop at a viewpoint where we leave aside our bikes and do a small trek (Optional 1-2 hours approx.) to enjoy an adventure amidst the nature, appreciating the landscapes and a unique tranquility. We will return back to the cabin (40 minutes) where we prepare a nice Chilean barbecue and recharge our energy for our next day.
At dawn the following day, we will have breakfast in our cabin and start our third and final excursion on mountain bike (7 hours) through the Altos de Lircay National Reserve. The bike ride up the hill is for 3-4 hours, starting from 1000 m/3300 ft. As we bike up to higher elevation, the landscape varies, being able to enjoy the different flora and fauna, oak forests, mountains, viewpoints and small rivers.
After arriving in 1800 m/ 5900 ft, we reach the hardest part of the trail where the final part (50 min approx) must be done walking or with the bike on the shoulder until reaching the viewpoint Venado Valley located at 2000 mt/6500 ft or Enladrillado viewpoint at 2350 m/7700 ft. Here we have snacks to recover our energy levels accompanied by an impressive view of the Andes mountain range and the two most important volcanoes: Descabezado Grande and Volcano Quizapu. The final part of the ride is the most entertaining one: we will enjoy a 2-3 hour descent on technical trails, single tracks surrounded by native forest and mountains, until we get back to our cabin.
We will start our return journey back to Santiago, recharged with a new adventure, adrenaline, and beautiful nature we got to enjoy during 2 days of Mountain Bike Tour.
