What places can I explore on a self-guided tour?
Santiago has a large network of parks and bike paths bordering the Mapocho river, including South America's longest bike path. You can venture up to San Cristobal hill and discover the Metropolitan Park; the 3rd biggest park in the world located in the center of the city.
In case you have experience in riding the bike in a city, you can venture out and ride to the historic center to see Plaza de Armas, La Moneda Palace along the most picturesque and typical places of the city. In Santiago, you must ride on the bike paths and/ or in the parks.
Why don't we offer bike locks?
We do not advise to use locks, since we rent high-value bikes. By locking your bike, you can attract potential thieves to break the lock, or to remove any other component such as wheels, suspension, seat, hydraulic brakes etc.
What if the bike gets stolen during my rental?
If you follow the directions and maps given to you, there should be no problem, nor have we ever had one in 7 years.
If this occured, you must assume being responsible of the total value $ 350,000 clp / 530 USD / 476 Euros, of the bike to be remunerated in less than three days after the bike rental period. Your passport and/or ID will be retained.
Nevertheless, Santiago and the area where we are located along its parks and bike paths is safe during the day.
Chilean laws & cycling culture?
In Chile, helmet use is mandatory and cyclists must ride on bike paths and/or inside parks, otherwise you have to ride on the car way.
Riding the bike on sidewalks is prohibited, you can expose yourself to disagreements with passersby, accidents and fines.
