See Santiago highlights, local markets, hot spots as well as the beautiful Andes Mountains in Maipo Valley and El Yeso Reserve!
Day 1: Santiago Highlights
On the 1st day's tour of Santiago , you will get to discover the city center highlights, parks and local sights. The tour includes a small walk in the city center where we explore the lively streets, local markets and monuments. You will explore the history, culture and way of living of the Chileans!
We start the tour with private pick up services from your hotel location, and drive towards the downtown area until arriving in the Presidential Palace La Moneda & Constitution Square where we tell you about the history of the years of dictatorship as well as the current situation in Chile.
We continue our journey to one of the oldest streets in Santiago “Wall Street” - Calle Nueva York, and walk through the commercial center of the city until arriving in the main square: Plaza de Armas. Here we give you an introduction to the history of Santiago and the importance of the place, as well as visit the Santiago Cathedral, the Mapuche monument and observe the street artists - and paintings, the Central Post Office and the National History Museum.
We continue next to Santiago Fish Market - Central Market, where we can see local vendors selling the fresh seafood from the Chilean Pacific. We will enjoy a nice local lunch at the fish market included to the tour. We continue our adventure to the oldest bar in Santiago: La Piojera, to try out their specialty “terremoto”; earthquake, and after cross the Mapocho River to see a local fruit and vegetable market: Tirso de Molina.
We get back to our vehicle and proceed through the Forest Park until arriving in the Santiago Fine Arts Museum, we visit the museum and after head towards the modern area of Santiago.
Our next visit takes us to the Metropolitan Park access (Pedro de Valdivia), where we hop on the cable car leading us to the San Cristobal hill summit, allowing us to see great views of the city and the Andes mountain range.
We ride down the hill on the Funicular train, until getting to Bellavista neighborhood; a cultural and bohemian part of the city. We explore the house of the national poet Pablo Neruda (La Chascona), and walk along the most picturesque streets of the neighborhood, surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants.
We finish the tour and drop you off to your hotel location, leaving behind a day with the most important and picturesque places in Santiago.
Day 2: Andes Foothills & Maipo Valley
The 2nd day's trip is a panoramic tour by vehicle to enjoy the scenic beauty of Maipo Valley and El Yeso Lagoon, taking us to appreciate the Andes Mountains (up to 2500 m/8000 ft), its valleys, viewpoints and cascades.
Start the day with private pickup services from your hotel location and begin the drive towards South-East Santiago and the Andes mountain range (2 hours- 100 km /62 miles). On this route we will cross the Maipo Valley offering us great views over the Andes foothills and the Maipo River, accompanied by Chilean and Andes (Folklore) Music playing during our drive.
In Embalse el Yeso, we will go on a small walk (2 km/ 1.3 miles approx.) bordering the lagoon to take in the landscape and obtain great photographs. Having a slight of luck we get to observe condors, eagles and wild foxes. After our walk, we will enjoy a nice picnic in the outdoors.
On our return journey, we will have stops at beautiful viewpoints, before heading back to Santiago.
