Discover the modern and historic Santiago on this 6 h bike ride approx, for 35 Km / 22 Miles. During this Bike Tour you will be able to see and travel a significant part of Santiago, its main points of interest, parks and bike paths, neighborhoods, markets, palaces and the most picturesque, historical and cultural streets of our beautiful city.
We start the tour at Huaso Tours Offices: El Comendador 2060, and begin to pedal along the extensive network of parks and bike paths of Providencia and Vitacura neighborhoods until making our way to the to the Bicentennial Park, where we get to enjoy the great cycling routes as well as the lagoons, black necked swans and flamingos. We will enjoy the scenic route, take photos and have a stop to relax.
The return journey offers us two route options: Biking alongside the parks and bike paths next to Mapocho river (Difficulty: Easy), and for more experienced riders: the Santiago Metropolitan Park Trails (Difficulty: Intermediate). This route takes us to pedal a 30 min route up the hill towards the San Cristobal hill, and after to enjoy a relaxed ride down the Metropolitan Park trails.
The second part of our bike tour takes us to discover the way of living of “Santiaguínos” and their culture. Our first visit takes us to the bohemian and cultural Bellavista neighborhood where we explore the house of the national poet Pablo Neruda (La Chascona).
Bike along the vivid streets, appreciating the colorful murals until arriving in Patronato and Mercado Tirso de Molina, a popular fruit and vegetable market where you get to appreciate the Chilean fruits and vegetables, and also try out the fresh natural juices.
We will hop on the bike again and continue our journey towards the Fish Market / Mercado Central, and the main square: Plaza de Armas, where we discover the Santiago Cathedral, City Hall, National History Museum, and the Central Post Office (Former Presidential Palace). Here, we give you an introduction to the history of Chile and the importance of this place.
Next, we bike along the commercial center until arriving in the presidential palace La Moneda hiding stories through the years of the military coup in Chile. We will bike one more block until arriving in the Wall Street of Santiago (New York Street), where we get to appreciate its cultural heritage buildings introducing the magic of ancient Chile.
Our next visit introduces you the most traditional bar in Santiago: “ La Piojera” and their specialty “terremoto”, earthquake. On our ride back to the meeting point, we will explore the Santiago Fine Arts Museum. We will end our full day tour of biking in our starting point, after a relaxed final ride through the Uruguay and Balmaceda Parks.
